The sine curve in the centre of the floor mosaic by Carsten Nicolai is a recurrent theme in his work. Nicolai, who is equally active in the field of electronic music as in graphic arts, takes the sine curve as his point of departure for a graphic representation of barely audible frequencies. Art, sound and spatial architecture are thus interwoven and find a visual counterpart which simultaneously serves as a guidance system pointing the way through the building.
