Pagoda Tower
Michael Beutler has erected a completely independent building next to the administrative centre. The pagoda-like tower stands in one of the atriums.

The aluminium pagoda by Michael Beutler is reminiscent of houses stacked one on top of another – and resemble the sort of sheds you find on allotments. Artistic pagodas adorn park grounds, but allotment sheds symbolise improvised architecture. Beutler combines both these topics and offsets them against the glass architecture of the Lufthansa Aviation Center with its green atriums. By combining the exotic, as embodied by the pagoda, with the familiar, in the form of garden sheds, he creates a dialogue between the interior and the exterior space, between nature and culture, which effectively and ironically brings to mind the notion of home and the yearning to travel to faraway places.
